It has now been one year since applying to Holt. One year ago today we were dreaming about holding a new little one as I typed this today. Yet, we don't have a picture, and we don't have a feasible timeline for when we will. We're just waiting. And waiting. And waiting. Trying to stay busy. And be distracted. Because if we admit it to ourselves it sucks. We thought at least by now we would have seen his/her face by now, and that doesn't even seem to be a reality for a very long time.
What I haven't shared yet is that the main orphanage that our agency was working with closed down in February. We estimate that that is where approximately 90% of the children were coming from. Since their closure in February (we didn't know until last month) there has not been ANY children referred that are in our age range. Meaning that we are still about number 22 and there are 21 other families waiting in line before us asking for around the same age as us. If nothing has been referred in that long, in that age range, well...we could very well be waiting a long time. But we pray. And hope. And wait some more. Pray for distractions. Things to keep us busy so we can't dwell on what's really going on in our hearts. But God knows. He knows exactly who our child is, He is there with that child, and will bring us to that child when HIS (not ours) timing is perfect. He sees the big picture, and we see the here and now.
We are extremely thankful to have the two little crazies right now. We have already been blessed in HUGE ways that we can't even believe. And we are so thankful and grateful for our boys. But it doesn't stop the longing we feel for our third. We're still hopeful, still excited, and still praying. Will you pray with us? Pray for the others waiting with us who don't have any other children yet, who are waiting to be mommy's and daddy's? My heart breaks more for their wait than our own. But God knows. Yet, we're frustrated. If there are 4.8 million orphans in Ethiopia alone, then why is it so hard to adopt just one? It's proof to me that Satan is the ruler of this world (John 12:31-32). But God is still God, and He is still in control. And we will trust in that alone.

I will be praying your wait ends so very soon! His timing is perfect and you are so right, He knows exactly who the child of yours is!! Praying for comfort and peace!
Well said, honey. We love and pray for that sweet little someone, that will be our grandbaby:) It's been a really long pregnancy! Love, Mama
I just read this today, Karly...the only way to describe my feelings is: saddened. It just seems unreal to me that the need is there, the solution is there (and waiting and waiting!) but there is no end in sight. But, like you said, it will happen when it is time for it to happen. ONE good thing is...you will not have to jet off to Ethiopia during Hanna's wedding LOL You have to laugh sometimes. I'm rootin' for you guys!
